Make your home as energy efficient as possible. For example ask yourself how efficient are your furnace and windows? A high efficiency furnace and windows can make a huge difference in your monthly heating costs. The author replaced his 80% efficient furnace with a 90% high efficient furnace and the his old single pane windows with vinyl replacement windows with Low-E glass and and his gas bill went down over 20% from the previous year including the rate hike from the utility company.
